Biography - Visions of Mike
After 18 years of owning an automotive-related company in the Detroit area, Mike retired to Charlevoix, Michigan to pursue his passion of nature photography. Northern Michigan provides an array of summer and winter photographic treasures, as well as his personal favorite, the spectacular color changes in the fall season. Mike has attended several seminars and workshops led by some of the most dedicated instructors in the photographic field. Photography has changed the way he sees the world.
Mike uses very high-end medium format photographic equipment to produce his Photographic Art. Producing Photographic Art requires Tension, Experimentation and pushing of the visual and mental limits, not to mention the physical limits. Mike’s desire to capture a wide selection of natural wonders has led him to some of the most remote locations in North America, South America, Europe, New Zealand and Africa.
Mike was commissioned to provide 13 40”x 60” Canvas Gallery Rap images for the tallest residential building in Michigan, the River House Condominiums in Grand Rapids. One of Mike’s images was chosen to represent Charlevoix on a billboard add in Time Square. He was a grand prize winner and has placed in several other photography exhibitions in Northern Michigan. Mike’s images have graced the covers of several magazines. He was a featured artist at the Circle of Arts’ African exhibit in Charlevoix and has judged 3 different photography exhibitions.
